A Florida contractor profile needs more than a license number. The reader also needs to know the license type, the work it concerns and the business connected to the record.
Certification and registration describe different routes
Florida DBPR's Construction Industry FAQs distinguish state certification from registration based on a local contractor license. The guidance describes certification as allowing practice throughout the state, while registered practice is tied to the relevant local jurisdiction and other accepting locales.
That distinction should stay visible on a business page. Do not shorten both records to an unexplained “Florida verified” label. Nor should a business's service-area text be treated as proof that a license permits every advertised job everywhere.
Record the scope without guessing
When preparing a profile or responding to a customer, identify:
- The license holder and business name shown on the source.
- Whether the record is certified or registered, as actually published.
- The contractor category and any relevant jurisdiction information.
- The observed status, observation date and recorded expiration.
- A link that lets the reader repeat the lookup.
For a registered contractor, a clear local jurisdiction is more useful than a broad “serving all Florida” claim. For a certified contractor, statewide geography does not erase the credential's category or the need to check the applicable scope of work.
Use DBPR or the relevant local authority when a particular job raises a licensing question. VerifiedNode's review process does not expand what a license permits.
Connect the person and the business
