What goes in a contractor proof package?

Keep a short cover note with your business name, the relevant license lookup link, the date you checked it, and the insurance documents your client requested. Use the same business name across your proposal and supporting records so the recipient can match them.

For California contractors and clients

Start with CSLB’s official license lookup. You can search by license number or business name and inspect the information on the record. For help selecting a contractor, use CSLB’s hiring guide. Outside California, use the authority that issued the relevant license.

A checklist is preparation, not certification

Checking a box here records your own preparation. It does not verify a license, confirm insurance coverage, or establish that a business qualifies for a particular job. Ask the issuing authority or insurance provider about questions in their records.
